Tesla's ₹50.89 Lakh Model Y Now Has a Halloween Mode

Tesla's ₹50.89 lakh Model Y can now dress up as a ghost. On 30 October, Tesla India announced a Halloween Mode for the Model Y and the 6-seater Model Y L, delivered as an over-the-air (OTA) software update. It's the first time the Tesla Model Y Halloween Mode has come to cars in India. No service centre visit needed. The car downloads it on its own.
What Halloween Mode actually does
It's pure fun, and Tesla isn't pretending otherwise. The feature list below is per Tesla India's release. The car's avatar in the Tesla app puts on a ghost costume. There are Halloween sound effects, a special light sequence, seasonal wraps for the on-screen car and a spooky lock sound.
The headline feature is Trick or Treat Mode. With the car parked, it plays eerie sounds and flickers its lights when people walk up to it. Think of a haunted house, except this one has a frunk.
There's also a photobooth for themed photos, and Voice From Beyond, which lets you speak into the Tesla app and have the car repeat your message in its own voice. Perfect for scaring the neighbour's kids. Or the neighbour.
One practical catch: Motoroids reports that Sentry Mode can't run while Trick or Treat Mode is active. Switch it off in a parking lot you don't trust.
Want to see it before you buy? Tesla says you can try it at its Experience Centres in 7 cities: Noida, Delhi, Gurugram, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
India got it 24 days after the rest of the world
Tesla started rolling out Halloween Mode globally on 6 October with software version 2026.38.3, for the Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck. The India announcement came on 30 October, 24 days later, and a day before Halloween itself.
It's not Tesla's first India-focused OTA either. The Model Y earlier got the Grok AI assistant this way, with support for 6 Indian languages.
What this means for you
Here's what the two Model Y versions cost right now (ex-showroom):
- Model Y Premium RWD (5-seater): ₹50.89 lakh
- Model Y L Premium AWD (6-seater): ₹61.99 lakh
For context, when Tesla entered India in July 2025, the Model Y started at ₹59.89 lakh.
Nobody spends ₹50 lakh on an SUV for a ghost sound effect. But in most cars sold in India, the features you get on delivery day are the ones you live with, and anything new waits for a facelift and a new price tag. Here, the same car keeps picking up new tricks while it sits in your parking.
The EVGyan take
Halloween barely registers in most Indian homes, so call this a gimmick. The habit behind it is the real story. A car that gets better on Wi-Fi ages slower, and every EV maker selling in India should be chasing that.
Our only request to Tesla India: if you can build a haunted house on wheels, a Diwali light show can't be that hard.
