Hero Vida's factory in Chittoor can build 30,000 scooters a month. In October it registered 27,435, about 91% of that number (27,435 ÷ 30,000), and the month wasn't even over. That is the Hero Vida 2 lakh milestone in one line: demand is now running right up against the plant.
The year-to-date number is 2,00,143 scooters between 1 January and 29 October 2026, against 1,13,021 in all of 2025, a 77% jump with two months to go. The figures come from Autocar Professional's Ajit Dalvi, who compiled them from Vahan retail registration data on 30 October (Autocar Professional, also carried by Autocar India). These are Vahan registrations, not Hero's official dispatch numbers.
October beat September, which was also a record
Vida's previous best was 24,435 units in September, as per Autocar India's figures. October added 3,000 more on top of that, a 12.3% jump in a single month. Against October 2025 (16,499 units), the growth is 66%.
The more interesting part is how steady this has been. Vida grew every single quarter this year:
| Period | Units |
|---|---|
| Q1 2026 (Jan–Mar) | 49,043 |
| Q2 2026 (Apr–Jun) | 57,059 |
| Q3 2026 (Jul–Sep) | 66,606 |
| October 2026 (till 29 Oct) | 27,435 |
Add those up and you land exactly on 2,00,143. No single blockbuster month did the heavy lifting here. It's a staircase.
Where Vida stands in the e-scooter race
Vida's share of India's electric two-wheeler market is about 11% for 2026 so far, against 8% a year ago. Only three brands register more scooters: TVS, Bajaj and Ather. Ola Electric, once the runaway leader, now sits behind Vida, with Greaves further back.
In our September registrations story, Hero (Vida) posted the biggest month-on-month jump among the top five brands. October suggests that wasn't a one-off.
Back in August, Autocar India expected Vida to finish 2026 at around 2.25 lakh units. The estimate has now moved up to 2.5–2.6 lakh. When forecasts keep getting revised upward, a brand is doing something right.
The factory is the next big test
Chittoor was set up for 15,000 scooters a month when FY2026 closed. By September 2026 Hero had taken it to 30,000, a straight doubling in about six months. The next target, per Hero MotoCorp CEO Harshavardhan Chitale, is 45,000 a month by Q4 FY2027, as reported by Autocar India.
At 91% utilisation in October, that 45,000 can't come soon enough. If November keeps the trend, Vida will be bumping its head on the roof. That's the kind of problem every EV maker wants.
What this means for you
If you are looking at a Vida VX2 or V2, the brand behind it is clearly not a side project anymore. Hero is putting real money into making more of these scooters, and that usually means better availability and wider service support in smaller towns.
The flip side: in a fast-growing month, popular colours and variants can see waiting periods. Check delivery timelines with your dealer before you lock in a booking.
